Controls Specialist

Overview:
The ideal candidate will assist in the programming and integration of robotic products with systems and machinery controls peripherals. You will perform PLC/HMI and safety PLC programming as a member of the team responsible for robotic system startup, debugging, testing and commissioning both in-house and on-site across Canada.
Responsibilities:
- Support in the programming, runoff, installation, start up, and on-site duties necessary for final acceptance of robotic hardware and systems both in-house and on-site across Canada
- PLC/HMI programming, safety PLC programming, Keyence and/or Sick style safety controller programming, conveyors and automotive style fixture controls, and electric safety
- Execute robotic and controls validation tests to prove total system reliability.
- Support the development of robotic systems to meet customer specific applications.
- Communicate directly with the customer and provide technical support and debug as directed at customer locations
- Collaborate with project manager and supporting technicians and communicate as needed on project status and problem resolution.
- Assist and provide input to generate and manage project schedules, adhere to project budget, and interface with engineering team
Qualifications:
- 4+ years previous experience in a related position
- Robotic system integration experience with Yaskawa robots preferred
- Robotic welding system experience
- Familiarity with typical industrial safety controls such as light curtains, area scanners, e-stops
- Familiarity with typical industrial devices such as cameras, analog and digital sensors
- Some C-style programming capabilities are an asset but not required
