Process Engineer (Lead)

The Process Engineer will assist Process Engineering Supervisors and Managers and guide Process Engineers-in-Training in process design, and detailed design of key heat exchangers, vessels, fractionation towers, and utility systems

 

Duties Include:

  • Work on a variety of gas processing and heavy oil projects for domestic and international clients.
  • The scope of the projects will vary from FEED studies, modular packages, and full turnkey EPFC projects.
  • Acquire in-depth technical expertise in natural gas and heavy oil processing
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers, including supervision and authentication of professional work products.
  • Become a critical decision maker while working with a multidisciplinary team of engineering and design leads
  • Develop and build relationships with clients
  • Gain practical experience by overseeing the fabrication and assembly of your projects in the Airdrie facilities.
  • Travel domestically and internationally for startup and commissioning support
  • Receive mentorship from senior process engineers, supervisors, and managers to support your technical development and role as a lead process engineer
  • Develop lump sum proposals

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering
  • Professional Engineer registered and in good standing with Alberta Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or eligible for membership.
  • 5+ years of experience in natural gas processing, heavy oil, or related field.
  • Specific experience in one or more of the following processes is a significant asset: Cryogenic LPG Recovery (Turbo-Expander), Reciprocating Compression, Fractionation, LPG Sweetening, Gas Sweetening, Gas Dehydration, Refrigeration.
  • EPC and/or Fabricator experience
  • Excellent communications skills required to interact with client and internal team members
  • Experience working with HYSYS and other engineering software
  • Experience in sizing process equipment is an asset (separators, towers, heat exchangers, PSVs, flare systems, control valves, pumps, compressors)
  • Experience with typical process deliverables (PFD, HMB, P&ID, Line List, Design Basis Memorandum, Cause & Effect Diagrams, Control Narratives, Datasheets)
