Engineering Technician

Job Description:

This position’s main purpose is to provide support to the design engineering department. This individual will work within the engineering team to provide technical support in the form of 3D technical drawings, R&D engineering testing, product specifications etc.

Performance is measured on the results of the following:

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and execute engineering change notices for drawing and BOM
  • Prepare and execute sale order for standard part numbers
  • Responsible for keeping drawings up to date making sure that all customer and engineering specifications are met
  • Support the Design Engineering department during the R&D development process and R & D testing
  • Participate in part measurement reviews and execution of required actions
  • Support ERP and Engineering process development and maintenance
  • Contribute to a positive work environment

 

Qualifications:

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • 3D Modeling and Technical drawing experience
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods
  • Studies and experience to include: Technical drawing, Mechanics, Technical Writing
  • Experience in a technical support role
  • SolidWorks experience
  • Knowledge of Metrology / Measurement systems

 

Desired:

  • Knowledge of connectors or small mechanical/electrical parts.
  • Experience with laboratory testing
  • Knowledge of Failure Modes and Effect Analysis.
  • Experience with Managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Exposure to small plastic parts molding, dies, and processing.
  • Tolerance analysis skills
  • FEA simulation and modeling skills
  • OACETT member
