Professor, Engineering (Sustainable Building Design) 
 Full Time
Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology

 

What you will do:
The successful candidate will be required to develop curriculum and teach courses primarily in the Bachelor of Engineering - The Built Environment program within the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology at the North campus, and support activities that contribute to our Centres of Innovation (COI) and research projects.

These courses and activities will include but not be limited to: Energy modelling, Building Information Modeling (BIM) (for example in construction management, facility operation, life cycle management and sustainability), Digital Design, and other courses related to sustainable building and design.    

 

Duties:

  • Teach, develop curriculum and design/revise specific courses
  • Create an effective and innovative learning environment for our students
  • Assess student progress and achievement
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Participate in committees and related associations
  • Support student advising, student recruitment, and graduate placement
  • Assist with the promotion and marketing of programs
  • Develop and maintain strong industry ties.
  • Teaching may include as virtual/remote teaching

 

What you bring to the role:

  • Masters in Engineering
  • Industry-related experience
  • Licenses for the practice of engineering in Canada (preferred) or have the ability and eligibility to apply for an engineering license with the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
  • Background in Building Sciences Engineering with significant expertise in sustainability and Life Cycle Assessment.
  • Experience with Building Information Modelling is an asset.
  • Experience in a polytechnic post-secondary education setting, or equivalent experience as a trainer in business or industry is preferred, as well as coordinating project teams of learners working on industry projects / applied research across a broad industry base.
  • Demonstrable experience integrating industry-led projects into curriculum as well as curriculum development are assets.
  • Should have a strong network of contacts with other professionals, organizations and industry stakeholders.
  • Engaging and effective teaching skills
  • Experience managing classroom dynamics
  • Have a student-focused approach and a demonstrated commitment to fostering innovation and positive change.
  • Commitment to and knowledge of principles of equity and inclusion
  • Well developed interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills
