Product Design Specialist/Engineer

We are looking for a Product Design Specialist/Engineer to work in an interesting and challenging role.

 

Role Overview

As a member of R&D team, lead mechanical design of new sensors and products, perform simulations to assess performance, participate in testing and evaluation of new and current products, support documentation and manufacturing readiness of new developments.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Undertakes the development of assigned new products.
  • Designs a high level of final quality, accuracy and overall robustness in mill service into products from the initial conception.
  • Understands the market requirements for product developments undertaken.
  • Uses appropriate software tools and techniques to simulate designs or build virtual prototypes where applicable.
  • Builds engineering prototypes, test setups and jigs
  • Provides technical support and/or undertakes design maintenance on existing products and devices, when required
  • Provides technical supervision to less senior staff.
  • Monitors the development progress against plan.

 

Qualifications:

  • BASc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Senior Mechanical Specialist/Engineer 8+ years
  • Sound theoretical and practical knowledge of mechanical engineering including FEA and CFD simulation (SolidWorks, ANSYS, or similar), CAD modeling and design (SolidWorks)
  • This position may require some foreign travel, also working in metals rolling mills and on mining industry sites. 
  • A sound awareness and experience of industrial safety procedures is required.
