Manufacturing Engineer

We are currently looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer with strong technical and relationship building skills to join our growing Team. This position is a newly created, full time permanent position reporting to the Operations Manager.

As Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for leading significant improvement in manufacturing (assembly and moulding) processes resulting in a safer and more engaging work environment for our employees and significant impact to financial results.

 

Duties Include:

  • Develop, evaluate, improve and document manufacturing processes to meet our quality, cost, cycle-time and safety needs (including process control techniques)
  • Conduct work flow analysis and make recommendations for improvement in material handling and shop layout
  • Plan, define and execute manufacturing cost reduction and product improvement programs existing products
  • Champion project activities such as continuous improvement and lean manufacturing
  • Identify and execute solutions related to process flow within the plant by applying manufacturing engineering principles to improve efficiencies such as Pareto, time studies and design experiments
  • Execute, maintain and manage projects for waste reduction, productivity & continuous improvement initiatives and quality enhancement opportunities
  • Responsible for performing capacity, capability and feasibility studies to determine viability of new capital equipment purchases and assist with new product development
  • Recommend, design and implement changes to current work cell, equipment and tooling and gauge designs within predetermined deadlines
  • Assist and provide guidance to the development, design and build of new programs and processes
  • Provides prototype assistance for fixtures, gauges, and samples and ensures timely transfer of prototype to production group
  • Provide manufacturing engineering support for new program Launches ensuring good standards
  • Maintain plant layout and engineering drawings through the use of Auto CAD
  • Facilitate employee involvement to harness improvement opportunity
  • Assess environmental, ergonomic and hazard aspects of new or modified equipment and processes

 

Qualifications:

  • College diploma in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 3+ years of working experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or similar role
  • Experience with Auto CAD, MODAPTS 
  • Demonstrated experience with lean manufacturing and value stream & process mapping
  • Strong commitment to customer satisfaction
  • Ability to perform in a high-pressure environment
