JOB TITLE: Design Engineer

REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager

We are a dynamic and fast-growing company that engineers and designs automotive racking to meet shipping and storage requirements for the global automotive market. We are a full-service manufacturer of custom and standard automotive racking products including containers, storage bins and metal shipping racks.  We are a diversified global automotive supplier with manufacturing operations in 3 countries. 

We are a diversified family-owned and operated since 1999 with plants in Canada, USA, and Mexico.

EWS designs, develops and manufactures automotive racking systems, engineers and assembles complete racks and components, primarily for sale to original equipment manufacturers (“OEMs”) of cars and light trucks.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design through NX Design and SolidWorks.
• Support product engineering activities.
• Participate in product testing, performance evaluation, and certification activities.
• Ensure department achieves objectives and completes project within budget and time frame.
• Ensure product is designed for specific needs, but with wider applications in mind.
• Direct team members to obtain necessary resources to meet scheduled commitments.
• Ensure implementation and refinement as required by formal process to support the product development, testing, and certification processes.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

• Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent experience) with minimum 4 years’ experience in engineering, product development and testing.
• NX Design (Required)
• Detail-oriented, innovative, creative, and thrive on testing designs to identify flaws and find solutions
• Works well in a team and able to meet tight deadlines
• Excellent communication skills
• Team building, relationship building, and leadership skills
• “Out of the box thinker” – must be key driver contributing to the products path
• Innovative
• Competent using mechanical hardware
• product engineering: 2 years (Required)
• SolidWorks design: 2 years (Asset)
• Automotive Manufacturing FCA Design experience (Asset)
