The Process Improvement Specialist is directly responsible for planning, developing, implementing, improving and documenting product manufacturing processes. He/she will lead or assist in improvement initiatives across multiple and varying work centers and departments continually supporting all operational and financial goals and objectives of our company.

The Process Improvement Specialist is an active and hands-on role requiring the candidate to work between the office and manufacturing shop floor. This individual will lead problem solving and process improvement processes by defining problems, identifying gaps in performance, gathering data, deciding on solutions, implementing improvements, measuring results and ensuring changes are sustained.

Primary Job Functions

  • Implements manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods, tooling, fixturing and equipment.
  • Documents manufacturing processes; creates operational work instructions, process specifications and procedures.
  • Determines manufacturing equipment needs; engages equipment manufacturers; develops capital equipment investment reports and justification.
  • Proven track record of evaluating existing manufacturing processes and ability to re-engineer those processes in order to increase throughput, reduce downtime, improve safety and enhance quality.
  • Work closely with management to establish sustainable Lean practices that empower employees, accelerate change, and enable personal and team development.
  • Serve as a change agent to challenge existing processes in place. Use data to communicate and support the opportunities that exist.
  • Formulates and recommends manufacturing processes and procedures, layout, and material handling methods.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in related field (i.e., manufacturing, engineering, business administration, management) and three plus years' experience or equivalent experience in production/light manufacturing environment and demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Proven ability to hold self and others accountable, drive improvement initiatives, analyze and act on relevant data and metrics, participate in and manage multiple projects.
  • Strong sense of urgency and customer focus.
  • Ability to develop and utilize knowledge of a broad range of processes and products.
  • Must be a reliable, conscientious team player with experience in communicating with all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing
