We are looking for a Senior Project Controls Specialist in our Fort. St. John, BC office you will be responsible for program and project cost controls, developing processes, and forecasting and represent our company as a leader in energy and industrial markets.

 The role:

  • Area/District cost tracking and forecasting.
  • Cost Control for all programs and projects in the assigned districts.
  • Working with Operations build bottoms up forecast at project, program, district and regional level to achieve +/-5% accuracy for month end and year end forecast.
  • Track project margins, and district profitability.
  • Monitor project and district non-billable costs.
  • Enhance forecasting methods, processes, and tools.
  • Train and mentor junior and intermediate project controls team members.
  • Support schedule development for bids, and projects in MS Project and Oracle P6.
  • Monitor project activity scheduling and costing to ensure targets are being met.
  • Support Project Management with project setups, WBS development, and project deliverables.
  • Support finance with project accruals, and variance to forecast and budget explanations.
  • Present forecast, and variance explanations to management and executives.
  • Interface with Supply Chain, Finance, Operations to ensure alignment on project deliverables, and flow of information.
  • Attend project meetings and discussions with the project management team and external clients.
  • Perform cost analysis (actual vs budget), and productivity (earned vs burned) reporting.
  • Maintain Key Performance Scorecards.
  • Read and understand Contracts to perform project controls.
  • Support Director of Project Controls with adhoc reporting and related deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, efficient and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Highly accurate and precise in completing repetitive tasks.
  • Competent in project cost control fundamentals (labour, materials, equipment, and third party services).
  • Competent with Microsoft Excel and presentation tools.

 

Experience and Required Certifications:

  • 15+ years of experience, with a minimum of 10+ years experience in a Cost Controls role.
  • Ability to learn, and operate in a dynamic unstructured environment.
  • Flexibility to travel to multiple locations as needed.
  • Bachelors in Engineering, Finance, Business, or related higher education.
  • PMP certified or other project management education desired.
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry preferred.
  • High level of proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Working knowledge of MS Oroject, and or Oracle P6.
